23 Inch Electric Fireplace Insert with Remote Control and Adjustable Flame

The Costway 23-inch electric fireplace insert is a recessed electric fire built for retrofitting into a media wall or chimney breast, putting out 1500W of warmth across spaces up to 37m². As a zone heater it's straightforward to budget for: 1.5kW at roughly 26p/kWh works out at about 39p an hour at full heat, and like most plug-in fires it converts nearly all that energy into heat, so it's cheaper to run than gas only when warming one room rather than the whole house. A built-in thermostat adjustable from 17°C to 32°C lets it cycle off once the room is warm, trimming consumption further. The flame effect is where this insert earns its place: 8 flame colours, 3 brightness levels, 5 flame speeds and 6 ember-bed colours, all of which run without heat for year-round display. The remote adjusts temperature, flame, ember colour and timer from up to 4m. At just 7kg with overheat protection and UKCA certification, it's an easy DIY fit, though you should keep the top and back 20cm clear of the wall for ventilation.
