The Igenix 9000 BTU 3-in-1 portable air conditioner (IGAC01009W) is a versatile portable air conditioner for small to average UK rooms, cooling, ventilating and dehumidifying spaces of up to 20 square metres from one compact unit. Three functions in a single machine, cooling, fan and dehumidifier, mean it earns its keep right through the warmer months: chill a stuffy bedroom on a heatwave night, circulate air on a milder day, or pull excess moisture from a humid conservatory. The 9000 BTU output is well matched to bedrooms, home offices, conservatories, garages, mobile homes and caravans, and at 22.6 kg with castors it moves easily from room to room as the sun shifts round the house. As an honest, single-hose portable air conditioner, it does need to vent warm exhaust air outside, so the supplied window/exhaust kit and exhaust hose route that heat through a window or opening; like all true portable units it cannot cool without being vented. Running cost depends on the cooling load, but expect a portable AC of this size to cost in the region of a kilowatt's worth of electricity per hour at around 26p/kWh.
