As a portable, it does need venting: the supplied exhaust hose (15cm diameter) and adjustable window kit (fits 65-120cm windows) expel hot air outside, so honestly it can't cool a sealed room without that hose to a window. The trade-off is true plug-in convenience with no installer required. While the manufacturer rates coverage up to 46.5m², in practice 12,000 BTU is best for rooms around 20-25m²; in a genuinely large open space it will work harder. On a 1350W cooling input it draws about 1.35kW, costing roughly 35p an hour at around 26p/kWh. At 47dB with a dedicated sleep mode, it's quiet enough for most bedrooms overnight. A 75° auto swing, 3 fan speeds, touch panel, remote, 24-hour timer and 29L/day dehumidification round it out, and it uses eco-friendly R290 refrigerant.
